Aleyna’s “Little flower” First Birthday Celebration

A pretty little flower,
Now in bloom,
Growing up, all too soon!….

The month of September marked the commencement of Spring in Australia and it was fitting that the theme chosen for this little cherub’s first birthday celebration would be, of course,…Pretty blooms!

Aleyna’s mummy had a very clear vision:- create a simple, elegant and pretty affair  featuring beautiful flowers. Studio Cake was commissioned to style and bake all the cakes and desserts for the birthday and  set about the task of sourcing many wonderful vendors to help create a pretty little party with a twist of vintage. This was achieved, using lace, doilies and beautiful tulle and satin ribbons.

The colour pallet of white, blush, lemon and gold was chosen to represent the soft colour pallet of spring, with these colours being used to help tie the different stations together.
The dessert table featured a gorgeous backdrop with the birthday girls name in gold, surrounded by an array of exquisite handmade flower paperie and fans handcrafted by Dunne with Style.

Miniature cake flower pots with handmade sugar flowers were a lovely feature to the table and many guests made mention that they thought they were real! Additional table features included, vanilla cupcakes with pretty flowers, doilies and buttercream swirl.  Cake pops with little flowers and edible lace, lemon macarons and flower shaped cookies standing on glittered  vases!

The cake was a two-tiered marble mud cake with decadent chocolate ganache, featuring handmade peony roses, buds and hydrangea flower arrangements and edible lacework. The beautiful vintage cake stands, many of which are very rare, were sourced by Petite Portions and were the perfect vessels to display the pretty desserts.  We also sourced a gorgeous handmade cart to display the gourmet selection of candy and the exquisite etched glass drink dispenser.

Other little details:

Gorgeous floral arrangements in vintage white hobnail vases adorning the cart and main table.

Beautiful flowers in hanging birdcages and miniature gold birdcages as centrepieces on the children’s table

Oversized balloons with satin ribbon tails and handmade tulle flowers

Personalised chocolate bar favours for guests to take home

Simple, yet effective little details, such as cutlery entwined in dusty rose ribbon and flowers to compliment the mini glass bottles with straws and flags

Gorgeous handcrafted tulle tablecloth, enhancing the prettiness of the dessert table

The use of props, such as the gold and pink tea set to add to the “feel” of this relaxed and pretty party

Age appropriate entertainment such as hiring a children’s face painter and creating a sense of fun with a piƱata for the older children.

Using florals in many ways and textures as seen in the paperie, fresh flower arrangements juxtaposed against the delicate nature of the handmade sugar flowers that adorned the cakes and desserts.
